Many Companies Inaccurately Estimate The Climate Benefits Of Their Products

Cold-water laundry detergents, fuel-saving tires, energy-efficient ball bearings, emissions-saving data centers. Corporations are increasingly claiming that their goods and services reduce emissions. Thirty-six percent of companies responding to a 2017 survey by CDP claimed they sold products that would help consumers avoid emissions—a 20 percent increase from the year before.

Manufacturing Giant 3M Commits To 100% Renewables & Joins RE100

American manufacturing giant 3M announced last week that it was committing to move to 100% renewable electricity across all its global facilities by 2050 and has started the process by switching its company headquarters St. Paul, Minnesota, to 100% renewable electricity last Friday and kickstarting the company’s efforts by bringing its total renewable electricity consumption to 30%.

The world’s greenest and most sustainable companies have been highlighted in two parallel reports published this week by CDP, the non-profit global environmental disclosure platform, and Canadian media and research company Corporate Knights, with the common thread in both lists being the consistent economic performance of companies committed to fighting climate change and addressing environmental issues. 

Global Investors Worth $32 Trillion Call For COP24 Leaders To Address Climate Change “Ambition Gap”

A total of 415 global investors with $32 trillion in assets under management have this week called on leaders at the United Nation’s COP24 global climate change conference currently underway in Katowice, Poland, to address the climate change “ambition gap” by strengthening their Nationally Determined Contributions to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.
