ACE Parking has just received 18 electric shuttle buses for the San Diego International Airport, and another 11 are due to arrive by the end of 2020. This is the largest electric shuttle order for an airport in US history according to Endera, the commercial electric vehicle company that is supplying the electric shuttles.
COVID-19 isn’t the only crisis taking a toll on California this summer. Record-breaking heat has helped fuel the largest wildfire season on record, with more than two million acres already burned. Smoke from the fires has blanketed much of the state, causing some of the worst air quality in the world.
Next Thursday, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) will vote a proposal to reduce smog-forming and soot emissions from heavy-duty vehicles sold in the state over the next decade. While CARB has already moved forward to accelerate the adoption of electric trucks in the state, this latest proposal is a critical part of cleaning up the trucking sector until that broader transformation takes place.
Last Thursday, California made history by becoming the first state to mandate that truck makers move to zero-emission drivetrains. California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) new Advanced Clean Trucks regulation requires that half of the state’s trucks will need to be zero-emission by 2035, and the remaining half by 2045. A complementary Zero-Emission rule for fleet owners is in the works as well.
California thinks it’s strutting its stuff again and showing off its green leadership. Yesterday, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) proudly proclaimed that it was the first in the world to adopt a requirement that truck manufacturers switch from producing diesel trucks to producing zero-emissions trucks.
