BYD Electrifies Chile With 100 Bus Fleet For Santiago

Chile is leading the charge towards sustainable transportation in South America, having taken delivery of what is now the largest pure electric bus fleet in South America. The delivery of the 100 fully electric BYD K9FE buses was marked by a ceremony in the capital city of Santiago, Chile, on December 13th that was attended by the President of Chile, Mr Sebastián Piñera, the Minister of Transportation in Chile, Gloria Hutt, and other key leaders from the country.

One Ecuadorian City Is Converting Its Entire Bus Fleet To Electric By March 2019

The transit operator in the Ecuadorian port city of Guayaquil has decided to convert its entire fleet of transit buses over to electric with the purchase of 20 of BYD’s 12-meter, 80 passenger buses. The transition to electric transit is expected to set the city of Guayaquil apart as a leader in clean technologies, a fitting role for the city long known as the ‘Gateway to the Galapagos’.

The City of St. Albert just took delivery on the first three electric buses BYD has delivered to Canada. The three BYD K9 buses are the first installment of the order of a total of seven electric buses for the city. The order represents a conversion of a full 10% of the city’s bus fleet to electric, which will be fulfilled by the end of the year and shows its commitment to migrating its fleet to next-generation fuels.
