It has become crystal clear in the recent democratic debates that combating climate change is a central focus of the Democratic Party, and governments around the world as a whole. The growing pressure of climate change can’t be ignored, and lawmakers are working toward solutions. These plans will be daunting for established auto manufacturers to adapt to, essentially having to reshape their entire business models to conform with new regulations. In stark contrast, Tesla is in the unique position that it has not only embraced changing times, but built its entire business around them.

Walmart Sues Tesla Over Rooftop Solar Fires

Back in 2010, Walmart was one of the first major companies to get involved with the solar power revolution. It teamed up with SolarCity, the rooftop solar company started by Elon Musk’s cousins Lyndon Rive and Peter Rive, to install rooftop solar arrays on 224 of its stores.

To date, seven of those rooftop installations have caught fire, causing millions of dollars in structural damage and lost sales.

There’s an important caveat with electric cars. Although electric vehicles have zero tailpipe emissions, they draw their power from a wide variety of energy sources. Bloomberg reports, “Trading in your gasoline-guzzling car for an electric vehicle is a lot like shifting the emissions … [as] EVs run off electricity, and that electricity” can come from both clean and dirty energy sources.

Tesla Granted New Patents For Curved & Textured Solar Roof Tile Manufacturing

Tesla was just granted a new series of patents that shed some light on the techniques it will use on its upcoming curved and flat solar roof tiles. These design techniques will presumably be employed as Tesla moves towards the first commercial version of these tiles, which are expected to move into mass production a bit later than the Tesla solar roof tiles that have just been installed on my roof.
