New aggregated data from the gurus over at A Better Route Planner show that Tesla Model 3 efficiency is the highest of any production car at highway speeds, with outstandingly low energy consumption. This outstanding efficiency, combined with great supercharging speeds, makes the Model 3 the best road tripping EV in production.
Fastned took to the interwebs to loose some facts about the impact its fast charging network has on the grid. With Fastned stations operating exclusively at 50kW and above, its network is a great case study for what large numbers of fast charging sessions might have on the grid. It opened up and shared information from more than 100,000 fast charging sessions over the last 5 years – and the results are interesting.
Road trips are the final frontier for electric cars to totally outshine combustion-engine vehicles (gas/diesel cars). Already clearly a better technology than combustion vehicles in every other respect, of all the electric cars currently on the market, only Tesla so far provides truly compelling road trip ready offerings. This is an area that other carmakers need to pay much more attention to if they have a hope of ever competing with Tesla’s stratospheric demand and world-leading EV sales volume.
The Netherlands-based plug-in electric vehicle fast-charging firm Fastned has reported a first quarter (2018) growth of around 140% (year on year), according to an email sent to CleanTechnica.

Fastned is still the only EV charging network I know of that includes CHAdeMO, CCS, and Tesla (via adapter) charging options at all of its stations. As such, even with other options, many of Fastned’s customers are Tesla drivers.
