Electric Bikes

Monday Motorbikes: The Gateway To Cool

I’ve had my eye on Monday since it first popped up on my Instagram feed. They’re cute. But they’re also cool. They’ve still got that vibe of the Puch 50 they’re modeled after. But they also have a modern feel, all black-clad. They follow the Henry Ford Design School — you can have any color you want, as long as it’s black. Definitely the perfect vehicle for heading to the beach, or to work.

Attending National Drive Electric Week Event In Florida

Yesterday, I attended the Drive Electric Week event in New Port Richey. Next week, if all goes as planned, I’ll attend another one in Florida. I’ve been attending these sorts of events for a few years. Although I enjoy them, I don’t think they are very effective at their stated purpose. Every time I attend a Drive Electric event, it seems that it is preaching to the choir. I was happy to see a few non-EV owners at the event, but the majority of the people there owned an EV.

The CERO One Brings Japanese Sensibility & Efficiency To The World Of Utility E-bikes

The CERO One e-bike is the brainchild of co-founder and CEO of CERO Bikes Kiyoshi Iwai. After yet another day of crawling through Los Angeles traffic, Kiyoshi was at his wits’ end. He envisioned a Los Angeles where people moved around the sunny city on bicycles. Where smog was replaced with fresh air and hours spent in a car were exchanged for more time with family exploring the city.

The Electrified Tern GSD Utility Bike Can Haul 400 Pounds Of People & Gear

The folks over at Tern have built a number of bikes and ebikes that enable more people to spend more time on bikes, thanks to the unique functionality they pack under the hood. They brought a fully loaded Tern GSD over for us to run through the paces for a few weeks so naturally, we obliged. We took the GSD out on the town on long commutes, beach rides, hauling the kids around town, and fully-loaded trips to the store. In every circumstance, the GSD performed admirably, even asking for more as our weary legs were increasingly augmented by the battery and mid-frame mounted motor.

Small & Micro EVs Would Sell & Work Better If They Didn’t Look Funny

As good as small EVs like the Smart (and its motorcycle-engined gas predecessors) do their jobs, they just aren’t that appealing. They are built as tall as a more traditional compact hatchback, but much shorter and narrower. I’m sure the reason they’re built this way is for ease of entry and exit and other utilitarian purposes, but it gives them a poor drag coefficient along with the odd looks.
