Porsche Put €2.2 Billion Into R&D (Including Plug-Ins) In 2016

As part of its efforts to prepare for and keep up with the changes occurring in industry, Porsche put €2.2 billion into research and development efforts during 2016 (FY), according to recent reports.
These R&D efforts included those involving the company’s forthcoming all-electric Mission E model, as well as those involving plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology and “digitalization.”
The company’s Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board and Member of the Executive Board for Finance and IT, Lutz Meschke, commented: “Digitalization is more than an investment in the latest technologies. It opens new economic opportunities, increases customer benefits and makes processes more efficient. In the medium-term, we want to generate a double-digit percentage of sales through digital services.”
Part of these efforts including the founding of Porsche Digital GmbH in Ludwigsburg, and the founding of Digital Lab in Berlin.
