I recently covered BYD’s passenger vehicle sales, with its BEV sales up 33% year over year in September. That was nice, solid growth. However, looking at the company’s commercial vehicle sales now, things look even much better. As usual, BYD breaks these out by bus sales and non-bus commercial vehicle sales — all of them fully electric of course. Let’s take a look at how the two segments did last month.
BYD had 791 electric bus sales in September, a 36.4% rise over the 580 sold in August 2026 and a 110.9% rise over the 375 sold in September 2025. Across the first three quarters of the year, sales were up 22.5%, from 3,706 in 2025 to 4,540 in 2026. Nice.
When it comes to non-bus commercial vehicles, BYD’s sales were up even more! September 2026 sales were up 247.5% month over month — from 1,743 in August to 6,057 in September. They were up 113.7% year over year — from 2,835 in September 2025 to the aforementioned 6,057 last month. Across the first three quarters of the year, non-bus commercial vehicle sales from BYD were up 29% — from 37,578 in 2025 to 48,492 in 2026.
Combining all commercial electric vehicles, BYD’s total was 6,848, 194.8% more than the 2,323 sold in August 2026 and 113.3% more than the 3,210 sold in September 2025. Across the first nine months of the year overall, the 53,032 vehicles delivered were 28.5% higher than the 41,284 delivered in the first nine months of 2025.
