I know, this seems impossible — at least it would have seemed like it a few years ago, or if you didn’t know about what has become of the Chinese auto market. But this is 2026 in China, and today we’re talking about the hot new MG 07.

The fastback sedan will start at 125,900 yuan ($18,590), significantly less than was anticipated, and it will also be the first MG brand with lidar included. There will be five versions of the BEV:

  • 650 Comfort version — 125,900 yuan via pre-sale
  • 610 LiDAR version — 135,900 yuan
  • 610 Flagship version — 145,900 yuan
  • 845 LiDAR version — 155,900 yuan
  • 845 Flagship version — 165,900 yuan

Official launch and deliveries begin in late August for the 600-kilometer range versions, but deliveries of the longer-range (845-kilometer) versions don’t begin until October.

Lidar is apparently becoming the norm in the Chinese EV market. This is MG’s first vehicle with lidar, and four of versions include it — only the base version doesn’t. In addition to lidar, the car includes 11 exterior cameras. Continuing an apparent theme for the week, Momenta is also involved. This is the first model in the world to use its R7 World Model driving-assistance system, in combination with the Xheart X7 chip.

Following BYD’s lead, the driver-assist functions are being offered for free (complimentary) for a limited time. It also includes zero-gravity front passenger seats, in addition to current Chinese EV basics.
