XPENG’s sales abroad (outside of China) have been a very strong point of growth for the company in the past year. There are several markets outside of the main auto markets we typically talk about that are eager to electrify and actually doing so quite fast. XPENG is one of the key Chinese EV producers that is helping some of them to do so.

Indonesia is actually leading the pack in terms of EV sales growth. EV sales boomed 128% in 2025 in the country, reaching 15% of the nation’s overall auto sales. Expect much more growth in 2026, in part spurred on by faster and faster charging infrastructure.

We just got news that Indonesia has installed its first 480 kW ultra-fast charging station. A decade ago, 50 kW was considered “fast charging.” Power output has grown and grown at EV charging stations since then, and 480 kW is truly fast. It means that and EV can charge up most of its battery in about 10 minutes.

XPENG, partnering with Indonesia’s largest charge point operator (CPO), Voltron, was instrumental in bringing this about. And why would that be? Because the Chinese EV company has a vehicle that can actually make use of such ultra-fast charging! The XPENG G6 Pro includes 800V, 5C battery technology that allows it to charge at up to 451 kW and thus recharge the battery from 10–80% in just 12 minutes. You can’t get faster charging from another EV on the Indonesian market — and, yes, that includes Teslas, which are well below this charge rate.

“Located at Living World Alam Sutera, the ultra fast charging facility is designed to support the mobility needs of XPENG users in Indonesia. Its presence reflects XPENG’s commitment to ensuring customer comfort, not only through product quality, but also through the readiness of supporting facilities,” XPENG writes.

XPENG and Voltron signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) yesterday to further their collaboration in this regard. “The MoU formalizes a co-investment framework to expand this high-performance charging (HPC) infrastructure. The companies will jointly identify premium locations to develop new HPC sites. This partnership enhances charging accessibility and supports XPENG’s expansion in Indonesia.

“This partnership makes XPENG one of the first Chinese EV brands to partner with Voltron in the region. In tandem, Voltron’s network of over 400 chargers is being integrated into the XPENG app, enabling users to locate stations starting this January, with remote start/stop and payment functions to follow in the near future. Upon launch of these functions, XPENG users will also enjoy special discounts at co-branded stations. This will enable a seamless charging discovery, activation and payment experience on XPENG’s systems.”

Overall, XPENG has a strong focus on this region, and it is enabling easy access to fast-charging stations across multiple Asia Pacific markets — in particular, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. “This includes the largest public charging network in Singapore with a local market share of over 30%, as well as charging stations spanning 5,000 kilometers of highways across SEA.”

I expect we’ll se strong XPENG sales growth in these countries in 2026.
