CleanTechnica is proud to announce that we will be producing a large scale sustainable technologies event this spring, April 24-26, in Honolulu, Hawaii, called the Electric Home Show. The event will feature all the coolest technologies, like test drives of EVs, test rides of ebikes, e-hoverboards, e-skateboards, induction cookstove demos, heat pump AC and water heater tech, an all-electric BBQ / beer garden / tailgate, solar canopies, portable power stations, and so much more. The event is at the Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, and we’re expecting between 3,000 and 5,000 people over the course of the weekend. The legendary Bill McKibben is our keynote speaker, headlining an incredible lineup of speakers, panels, and workshops.

Help CleanTechnica launch this first event and build a blueprint for future events by chipping in on our Kickstarter here.

This is a locally focused event – 90%+ of the exhibitors are local: plumbers who specialize in heat pump water heaters, electricians who do whole home electrification, builders who make sustainable homes, sustainable remodelers, retailers that feature portable power stations, and the like. It’s part of the beauty of an event like this – it’s locally driven, but completely scaleable. Technologies (heat pump ACs, heat pump water heaters, induction cookstoves, etc.) that want to find channel partners (the plumbers, electricians, builders, remodelers) and customers (property management companies) in a local area will be coming to meet with those contractors and customers, as well as increasing overall demand for those products in the general public.

Our goal for the show is to help Hawaii in its transition to a 100% clean energy future, but our goal overall is to help accelerate the clean tech revolution globally, so our plan is to expand this show to cities across the world.

Want to do one in your town?

One of the perks we’re giving in our Kickstarter campaign is a 2 year territory-exclusive license to run an Electric Home Show (you can use the name or call it something else if you like) in your town. We’ll provide the blueprint, consulting help to make sure you get the benefit of our experience, market the event for you, and do our best to make sales for your show to the larger organizations you might not be able to reach on your own, like Rinnai, Bluetti, and Rivian. You’d be the one to recruit the local plumbers, electricians, builders, and so on.

CleanTechnica Press’s first book: Outta Gas

We’re also pre-selling signed copies of Outta Gas, the first book produced by CleanTechnica Press, and written by yours truly, about how to make effective and positive change AND live our best lives at the same time. It’s full of puns, so if you like puns, it’s worth it for that by itself. 🙂 The book chronicles all the incredible progress we’re making globally to transition the entire global economy to a clean energy future, gives major action steps that can guide our actions effectively, taps into ecopsychology to help us handle the roller coaster that is climate work, and provides a blueprint to rewire our minds for long-term happiness that stems from leading a meaningful life in do-goodery.

Here’s the front and back covers, to give you a sense of what it’s about:

Scott Cooney

Scott Cooney (LinkedIn) is a serial eco-entrepreneur focused on making the world a better place for all its residents. Scott is the founder of CleanTechnica and was just smart enough to hire someone smarter than him to run it. He then started Pono Home, a service that greens homes, which has performed efficiency retrofits on more than 20,000 homes and small businesses, reducing carbon pollution by more than 27 million pounds a year and saving customers more than $6.3 million a year on their utilities. Scott wanted to contribute to native ownership of the clean energy revolution, so he gifted Pono Home to a long tenured employee with native Hawaiian roots for just the liquidation value, turning down a mainland company interested in purchasing the company. In a previous life, Scott was an adjunct professor of Sustainability in the MBA program at the University of Hawai'i, a consultant at Saatchi & Saatchi S, where he worked with a team to educate and empower millions of employees to live healthier and more sustainably. He is the author of Build a Green Small Business: Profitable Ways to Become an Ecopreneur (McGraw-Hill) , and Green Living Ideas.
