Here’s a super quick special report on the Albanian EV market for you all. Despite being a small market (only 933 new passenger vehicles were registered in October) and the purchasing power being among the lowest in Europe, Albania is one of the unknown EV share leaders of the world! With 57% BEV share, few markets beat it.

The secret?

A steady flow of EVs coming from China….

Namely, BYD, which owns over 40% of the overall local market. That’s not 40% of the local EV market, but 40% of the OVERALL market.

Looking at the overall October top 10, we see that 8 out the 10 best sellers are BEVs, with BYD owning the top four positions.

Adding PHEVs (3% share) to the tally, plugins had 60%(!) of the total Albanian auto market in October.

Not bad, eh?
