The 2024–2025 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship concluded as a season of dual triumphs, with Nissan’s Oliver Rowland securing a dominant driver’s crown while Porsche finally captured the elusive teams’ and manufacturers’ titles after a season-long battle.
Rowland, in stellar form for the Nissan Formula E Team, put together a masterful campaign defined by relentless consistency and outright pace. Amassing four victories and seven podium finishes, the British driver effectively ended the championship fight early, mathematically securing his first World Drivers’ Championship at the Berlin E-Prix with two races still remaining on the calendar.

While Rowland celebrated his individual honor, the constructor’s fight went down to the wire. Porsche emerged victorious on two fronts, securing both the World Manufacturers’ Championship and the prestigious World Teams’ Championship with its factory TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team. The German manufacturer, powered by the consistent points-scoring of 2024 champion Pascal Wehrlein and teammate António Félix da Costa, clinched the coveted team title in the final race weekend in London.
The battle for runner-up provided the season’s most dramatic conclusion. Jaguar TCS Racing’s Nick Cassidy mounted an incredible late-season assault, winning the final three consecutive races of the championship, including a clean sweep of the London E-Prix double-header. This powerful surge allowed Cassidy to leapfrog his rivals and seize second place in the final standings. His Jaguar team secured second in the teams’ championship, cementing their status as Porsche’s primary rival.
Other season highlights included a historic maiden victory for Dan Ticktum and the Cupra Kiro team in Jakarta, marking a significant milestone for the squad in the all-electric series.
The 2024–2025 campaign introduced the much-anticipated debut of the GEN3 Evo race car. This set-up is considered a major milestone in electric racing technology, with more focus on sustainability coming from more efficient powertrains and battery technology. Teams have also started to make changes, including complete rebrands already presented in the pre-season testing in Madrid in November 2024.

Very interesting here are the liveries of Tata and Mahindra have been racing alongside performance brands Porsche, McLaren, Penske, Jaguar, and Nissan.
Following the dramatic season finale, Formula E organizers unveiled a record-breaking 18-race calendar for the 2025–2026 (Season 12) championship. The global tour will feature two new venues: a race at the historic Circuito de Jarama for the inaugural Madrid E-Prix and a new US round at the Miami International Autodrome, home of the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The June 8, 2024, race in Indonesia was stopped because it conflicted with the national campaign period for the Indonesian presidential election, which created logistical challenges. The event returned to the calendar the following season in 2025.
The 2025–2026 season will kick off in Brazil this December and conclude with the GEN3 Evo era finale in London in August 2026. The calendar is heavily structured around double-header events in key markets, including Jeddah, Berlin, Monaco, Shanghai, and Tokyo, culminating in the championship showdown in London.
CleanTechnica will strive to cover the race results. Racing is part of the EV ecosystem. The first one I encountered was the Toyota RAV4 EV. Also, I am eager to see how electrification is seeping into NASCAR.
