Extremely Expensive Cadillac CELESTIQ Deliveries Begin

The Cadillac Escalade IQ, Cadillac’s new electric Escalade, was its top-of-the-line model for a while. However, there’s another EV from the brand that is more than double the price, in a league of its own in the Cadillac fleet. That’s the Cadillac CELESTIQ. The model starts at $330,000 and has a note saying “By enquiry only” in the place where you normally see “Build & Buy” on the Cadillac website. Now, deliveries of the CELESTIQ have begun.

“This week, the first hand-built Cadillac CELESTIQ was delivered to its owner in a private ceremony at the General Motors Global Technical Center. The bespoke ultra-luxury electric sedan, built to the client’s individual specifications, was handed over at an event at Cadillac House at Vanderbilt — a state-of-the-art facility where CELESTIQ clients can curate their vehicle design through a highly personalized experience,” GM writes.

GM then has some flowery words about the car’s ultra-luxury nature, performance, tech, and custom design. It even reached back to 1908, when the car called itself “Standard of the World.” I’m going to skip all that flowery language and self-congratulation, but here are some key specs for the car:

  • 655 horsepower
  • 646 lb-ft of torque
  • 3.7 seconds from 0–60 mph (with Velocity Max)
  • 303 miles of range on a full charge

“Each CELESTIQ is built to order. Transaction MSRP will be determined by each client’s individual level of curation, starting in the mid-$300,000 range. Every CELESTIQ is assembled at the newly established Artisan Center on the GM campus in Warren, Michigan,” notes in closing out its announcement.
