BrightView, the nation’s leading commercial landscaping company, reaffirms its industry leadership by focusing on three key environmental priorities as it designs and maintains the best landscapes on Earth. BrightView is dedicated to fostering a greener, more sustainable planet on Earth Day and every day.

  • Greener Fleet: BrightView will enhance the use of renewable energy sources and cut greenhouse gas emissions by deploying more battery-operated lawnmowers, handheld equipment, and electric and hybrid automobiles. Almost 1,000 new electric pieces of equipment were purchased by BrightView last year, along with 400 new hybrid or electric automobiles and trucks.
  • Water Conservation: BrightView provides superior irrigation management services to clients, including smart irrigation controllers, turf conversion, and xeriscaping to better assure water efficiency and conservation in light of the widespread drought conditions and local government water restrictions. Water use can be reduced by 60% or more by using xeriscaping, a landscaping approach that uses plants suited to the local environment.
  • Ecosystem Preservation: Tens of thousands of trees, shrubs, and patches of grass are planted by BrightView each year as part of its best-in-class landscaping efforts. With the Arbor Day Foundation, BrightView will plant 300,000 trees in 2023. The environment is revitalized by these plantings, which also purify the air, filter the water, and store carbon.

“As landscaping stewards, operating in an environmentally-friendly manner is the keystone to BrightView’s core business beliefs,” said Andrew Masterman, BrightView President and Chief Executive Officer. “We take great pride in setting the industry standard to ensure future generations benefit from our responsible way of how we serve our customers and communities where we live, work and play.”

In the constantly evolving world of technology, the landscaping sector is no exception. Current battery-powered technology is being utilized by landscape services and homeowners alike. The advantages of using battery-operated landscaping tools are numerous.

  • Less Noise
  • Less Emissions
  • Less Maintenance

Technology improvements that recently spread to larger battery-powered garden tools, such as mowers and even electric tractors, began with smaller battery-powered lawn equipment. Even with smaller battery equipment, today’s battery-powered gardening tools have lengthy operating intervals between charges.

Today’s manufacturers make strong battery-powered instruments, such as string weed trimmers, hedge clippers, and leaf blowers. While using battery-powered equipment is quite advantageous, especially for commercial establishments. The low emissions are a big advantage, especially in hospitals where air quality is crucial. Clients are particularly drawn to low noise environments in commercial settings.

For smaller yards, as well as to reduce the noise and pollution of conventional gas engine equipment, cordless garden tools and battery-operated yard equipment can be fantastic.

The advantages of battery-operated lawnmowers and tools are numerous and expanding. The yearly air pollution from lawn care is significantly reduced by using electric gardening and mowing tools. To give you a sense of how much, Consumer Reports stated in 2021 that “driving a 2017 Toyota Camry 1,100 miles can emit as many pollutants as operating a commercial leaf blower for an hour.” That’s huge!

This Earth Day, and throughout the year, BrightView team members nationwide will volunteer their time and participate in enhancement projects and local events to make a positive impact in their communities, including:

  • Renovating and rejuvenating community centers’ gardens and flower beds
  • Cleaning up and revitalizing cemeteries and public spaces
  • Planting trees, building pollinator boxes, and releasing ladybugs
  • Distributing educational materials and flower seeds at client locations
