Tesla Is Now Supporting Over 600,000 Jobs

Tesla is now supporting well over 600,000 jobs, CEO Elon Musk shared on Twitter the other day. In total, Tesla provides over 110,000 direct jobs and 500,000 indirect jobs, including its suppliers. Elon Musk’s response was to John of Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley, who highlighted Tesla’s manufacturing success in the USA.

John pointed out that Tesla has brought manufacturing back to America while other companies have left in large numbers. Tesla decided to make California its home and has been contributing in many ways to the making and building of the American economy. Unfortunately, it seems that some vocal politicians would rather let their personal biases against Elon Musk take center stage over the innovation, job creation, and progress that Tesla has made for our nation.

Last year, Tesla took the title of the Cars.com Most American Made Car. The auto website created an America-Made index that has been published annually for 16 years now. The Tesla Model 3 was the winner, followed by the Ford Mustang — the internal combustion engine version. It was only a few short years ago that many doubted Tesla’s success. Some said Tesla would never make half a million EVs in 2020. Tesla proved them wrong, and is now a manufacturing leader in the USA.

At Giga Texas alone, Tesla is hiring thousands of employees. Tesla also has several outreach partnerships with local schools and universities to recruit employees. Recently, Tesla conducted interviews with seniors graduating from Manor High School.

According to its website, Ford employs 57,000 hourly workers in the US and around 88,000 in total throughout the US.  According to Statista, General Motors employed around 53,000 salaried workers in the US.

It’s great to see all three companies providing jobs for Americans. However, Tesla isn’t just an automaker. It’s also a clean energy company with a mission fully focused on sustainability. And this is what makes it unique.

I don't like paywalls. You don't like paywalls. Who likes paywalls? Here at CleanTechnica, we implemented a limited paywall for a while, but it always felt wrong — and it was always tough to decide what we should put behind there. In theory, your most exclusive and best content goes behind a paywall. But then fewer people read it! We just don't like paywalls, and so we've decided to ditch ours. Unfortunately, the media business is still a tough, cut-throat business with tiny margins. It's a never-ending Olympic challenge to stay above water or even perhaps — gasp — grow. So ...
