Tesla Has 3 (Or 4) Vehicles In “Most American Made” Top 10

In the discussion thread of an article I wrote last week, Dr. Dean Dauger pointed out that Tesla has 3 models now confirmed on the list of the top 10 “Most American” cars. That’s right — 3 out of the 10 cars on the list are Teslas! Presumably, the Model Y will be added at some point too.
Last year, no Tesla vehicles were on the 2019 Car’s Most American-Made Index because “Tesla declined to furnish enough information to be included.” This year, Tesla apparently got Cars.com the info, because the Model S popped onto the index at #3, the Model 3 at #4, and the Model X at #9. The Model Y is primarily made of the same components as the Model 3, so I would presume it should sit right before or right after the Model 3, which would make it 4 Tesla vehicles in the top 10 — 100% of Tesla’s vehicles.
As it stands, though, there are the 3 Tesla vehicles mentioned above, 3 Honda vehicles (#5 Odyssey, #6 Ridgeline, and #7 Passport), 2 Chevy vehicles (#8 Corvette and #10 Colorado), 1 Jeep (#2 Cherokee), and 1 Ford (#1 Ranger).

The only states with more than one model on the index are California (because of the 3 Tesla vehicles) and Alabama (because of the 3 Honda vehicles).
Whether you’re an American concerned about American jobs or an American concerned about emissions from companies shipping things around the world and back before selling them to you, it’s good to see Tesla doing well in this “American-Made Index.”
