World EV Day Is Being Launched By ABB, GreenTV, & Others On September 9
Mark your calendars for World EV Day. It will be on Wednesday, September 9, 2020. This collaborative initiative has been launched by ABB, Green.TV, Mahindra Electric Mobility, Volta Trucks, and Pivot Power. Green.TV founder and Chief Sustainability Officer Ade Thomas shared his enthusiasm on LinkedIn:
“I’m thrilled to announce GreenTV’s communications partnership with global technology company, ABB, to launch the World EV Day initiative: a time of digital celebration for both emobility, and sustainability; with the inaugural World EV Day to be held on 9 September 2020.”
Thomas also shared his delight in ABB’s press release. “I’m delighted to be working with ABB, to begin an exciting journey towards a global institution in the e-mobility calendar: World EV Day will serve as a day of celebrating e-mobility as a key tool in driving a decarbonized transport future for all.”
The press release states that this will be a day of global e-mobility appreciation. EV owners and dreamers (I’m a dreamer) will get to participate along with local transport authorities and fleet operators — all will be encouraged to see just how much they are impacting the world by choosing an EV over a fossil fuel vehicle.
This will be the start of a beautiful holiday that will be celebrated annually. It will also recognize the importance of reliable and fast charging, the infrastructure of that, grid reinforcement, and the integration of renewable power generation.
Frank Muehlon, Head of ABB’s global business for E-mobility Infrastructure Solutions, said: “This is a crucial time for transitioning to a new, electrified, and sustainable model for mobility. As part of ABB Electrification’s Mission to Zero, we are at the forefront of making this transition possible, and a global day that recognizes and celebrates worldwide the importance of e-mobility solutions is something that ABB is delighted to be the lead partner on.”
I think having World EV Day in September is a great way to lead up to the National Drive Electric Week events that take place all over the world at the end of September and beginning of October. I had a blast covering the one in Abita Springs, Louisiana, and Gonzales, Louisiana, last year. Seeing so many people, companies, and organizations take part locally as well as globally shows just how ready the world is to fully open their hearts and minds to the idea of switching to electric vehicles.
