Get The Frunk Outta Here! Tesla Raj Installs The New Power Frunk Kit
Raj has been exploring his Tesla Model 3 from the inside out on his YouTube channel, Tesla Raj, since basically the day he took possession of it, and he just dropped a new video overview of a new product from Tesla Offers that lets you level up your frunk with liftgate functionality. Before we dive in, check out Tesla Raj’s walkthrough of the new power frunk kit that shows off how it works and also goes all out with a full blown how-to installation video.
The 2-way powered actuator kit not only lets you open the frunk, it can close it as well. That might not sound very impressive if you haven’t experienced it firsthand, but it transforms the manual frunk that not only has to be opened manually but has to be closed very gently with two hands. Taking the manual out of that equation makes the frunk much more useful when approaching with groceries, to quickly and easily pull out a few empty grocery bags, or to pull out a folding e-bike.
Coming from the Tesla Model S to the Tesla Model 3, the loss of the power hatchback was one of the things I missed the most. Sure, it’s a bit of a showy piece of tech, but it’s also stupid functional. I don’t know how many times I’ve had to get back out of the car to close the trunk after one of my boys (or me) forgot to close it. It’s clearly not the end of the world, but the ability to tap a button and to have the trunk (see Tesla Raj’s power trunk kit install video) or frunk open or close ever so gracefully is a really nice feature to have.
