Xpeng Adds Three More Experienced Execs To Its Leadership Team
Xpeng Motors announced that it has made three significant new senior hires for its North American and Chinese operations. The progressive Chinese mobility company adds even more brainpower behind Xpeng with these new hires.
Xpeng Hires New Talent
Benny Katibian joined Xpeng Motors and will act as its Chief Technology and Operation Advisor for the company’s North American unit. With over 3 decades of experience in the development and productization of embedded platforms in Fortune 500 companies, Benny will accelerate Xpeng’s core technology further. He also brings experience in top-level system architecture, design engineering, leadership team development, and product commercialization for the market. Coming from Qualcomm Inc., where he acted as vice president of Engineering from 2003 to 2015 and then as senior director of technology from 2015 to 2018, Benny joins Xpeng with 15 years of extensive expertise and knowledge.
The second newcomer to Xpeng is Wang Tong who steps in as vice president and will be responsible for enhancing the company’s Beijing and Shanghai operations. Wang comes from Alibaba’s Culture and Entertainment Business Group, where he was responsible for public affairs and information security development as vice president. He also served as senior vice president for UC Web where he was responsible for human resource management, branding, government affairs, and corporate culture development. Wang brings 20 years of public affairs, government relations and organizational management experience to the table.
Lastly, Lv Xueqing joins Xpeng as Financial vice president and will be based in Xpeng’s Guangzhou office. There, he will oversee construction, operations, and auditing. Lv brings nearly 30 years of auto industry experience, having worked as CFO in Yutong Bus, for Ford’s China Region, as well as at JMC. His expertise will be used to build a financial management framework, operational strategy analysis, analyze investments, and perform credit and risk analysis.
Finally, Xpeng Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said the following of the new additions:
“We are delighted to welcome these important senior hires to Xpeng. Talents of this level help to accelerate our growth and consolidate our operations, while enriching our research and development capabilities to create our next generation of products and solutions.”
Xpeng Continues To Grow, One Step at a Time
What has been impressive with Xpeng is its deliberate strategy that might infuriate any Western investors who prefer slower but more tangible growth. With one car a year on display and ready for production, Xpeng has deliberately slowed its pace to stabilize its core operations. It can then chose to take on other markets and has expressed interest in looking into the near Asian countries before thinking about Japan, Europe or North America.
