Recently, we found out the German Tesla website introduced business leasing for the Model 3. Here is an example from the Tesla site. Congrats for those of you wanting a business lease in Germany!

Figure 1: Pay only part of the full price with a low down payment and low monthly installments for the duration of your lease contract. At the end of the term, you return the vehicle. Fields include deposit, annual kilometers, and running time.

With a downpayment of 4,548€ for a Standard Range Plus, here are the monthly payments by term:

Running Time 10,000 km 15,000 km 20,000 km 25,000 km
24 months 735 € mtl. 735 € mtl. 754 € mtl. 773 € mtl.
36 months 575 € mtl. 587 € mtl. 599 € mtl. 612 € mtl.
48 months 493 € mtl. 502 € mtl. 511 € mtl. 538 € mtl.

Figure 2: Tesla German business lease amounts by annual kilometers. For an extra 40€ a month, you can get an extra 15,000 km a year (go from 10K km to 25K km). Switching to a 48 month lease from 24 months can result in lease savings of more than 30%. These prices do not include VAT.

Model 3 vs German Competition

Let’s compare the Model 3 Standard Range Plus with popular premium German vehicles, such as the Mercedes-Benz C300, Audi A4, and BMW 330i base models. All comparisons have a 4,548 € deposit, 48 month term, and 25,000 km lease.

Model SR+ 330i Audi A4 C300
Leasing payment 538 € mtl. 509 € mtl. 411 € mtl. 508 € mtl.

Tesla is price competitive. That’s impressive, considering the car needs to be transported from California and pay import duties. It does not take into account all vehicles having feature parity (or better) or the superior fuel efficiency of the Model 3. When both are considered, the Model 3 SR+ is an excellent value. Remember my previous articles, it is better to pay cash, then purchase, then lease in most countries. A business lease may have other advantages over a full cash or monthly purchase.

For the ease of using the website: Tesla is first, Audi second, BMW third, and the Mercedes-Benz site took me 30 minutes to figure out a lease price. Mercedes-Benz, your German site is way too complicated and very slow. Perhaps it is user error for a non-native German speaker. Perhaps not.

 A Cool Observation

I have noticed Tesla integrating more Tesla Energy products into the buying process. I have seen it on the Tesla app, and now I observed it on the German website. This is a great way to drive sales and interest across Tesla Energy. For many dreaming of a lifestyle minimizing Co2 and pollution, solar panels and a Powerwall charging your Tesla vehicles are the way to go.

Tesla video included on the Tesla app as well.

Why a video that came out 1 year ago only has 28 likes is something I wonder about. You can access this page by scrolling from right to left on the main screen of the Tesla app. The bottom of the app includes a cool animation of using solar and a Powerwall to fuel your home.
