Tesla Model 3 Sales Booming In China, While Gigafactory 3 Construction Going 24/7

It’s a bit harder for us to monitor Tesla activity in China than in the US and Europe. However, a certain Chinese American Tesla enthusiast seems to have a high number of connections there. Our friend Vincent routinely picks up intel on Tesla deliveries, Gigafactory 3 construction in Shanghai, and other matters. Below are some recent updates from Vincent.

First of all, there have been several signs that Tesla has been delivering a huge number of Model 3’s in the country, perhaps even more vehicles in total than in the past 10 months combined.

Aside from service center deliveries, many cars are also being delivered to homes. Vincent put together a slideshow.

The home deliveries might be because Tesla ran out of delivery trucks. Apparently, Shanghai ran out of rental delivery trucks.

As one finaly note on the delivery front, Vincent reminded us that on November 15, 2018, Elon Musk tweeted that there would probably be some Tesla deliveries in March, but April was more certain. Clearly, Tesla is delivering Model 3’s in China, so it seems Tesla is ahead of schedule.

The other big Tesla story in China these days is that the company is constructing its next gigafactory, its second automotive and battery gigafactory in the world. If, despite all of the above, you still thought Tesla might have a consumer demand problem, the next couple of tweets are likely to confuse the hell out of you. The indicate that Tesla is racing to build Gigafactory 3, and construction is even running “24/7.”

But let’s be honest, while that’s all fun to look at, Vincent’s best tweet recently was a retweet if Rob Cartwright in the UK.

The only thing that beats a Tesla is a mini Tesla, especially when doing something goofy.
