Optec Zuumer e-scooter

Here’s something you don’t often hear about, an electric scooter (e-scooter) designed for first responders. OPTEC International is branding its new Zuumer e-scooter for emergency and first responder agencies. It has launched the all-terrain 3-wheel OPTEC Zuumer.

“The 2019 patented electric scooter technology was recently acquired by Optimized Fuel Technologies and is currently in production at the company’s Carlsbad, CA facility.” The company claims it is the “Cadillac” of e-scooters. The company also notes that California Law Enforcement and EMT divisions have previously bought scooters from OPTEC.

The great thing about the Zuumer e-scooter is that it has been rigorously tested and proven over 4 years. We’re sure emergency agencies will like that advantage.

OPTEC sees a lot of growth coming in the electric micro-mobility sector, something most e-scooters companies also claim. Stay tuned for my upcoming article on my recent visit to the grand-daddy scooter maker of them all, Razor. That sentiment was echoed by Razor as well.

According to OPTEC, Bloomberg, Uber, and Alphabet already invested $335 million into partnerships with Lime, something we’ve covered previously. The company says UC Davis believes the new micro-mobility market is approaching the trillion-dollar target. Uber and Lyft’s dock-less e-scooter rideshare programs are pushing the new industry into an everyday affair for most city-dwellers.

Under The Hood Of The OPTEC Zuumer

The OPTEC Zuumer uses 2 swappable Li-ion batteries powering a beefy 1200W front-wheel electric motor. The platform rests on an all-wheel steering system using the front wheel and the company’s Lean2Steer technology. The new OPTEC rapid response Scooter boasts a 40-mile range and a 30 MPH top speed.

OPTEC Zuumer — Perfect Handling?

The company says its pivot point beneath the center line and its Lean2Steer make the rider balance effortlessly. It says the OPTEC Zuumer is the safest and most secure electric scooter on the market. And we can’t wait to test that claim!

The Zuumer might not be new but Optec’s foray into the first responder market segment is a smart move. We look forward to testing the scooter.
