The Australian Offshore Wind Possibility

As the year draws to a close and Australia’s renewable energy industry celebrates a surprisingly strong year — surprising, especially considering the general lack of support from the Federal Government — one could be forgiven for wondering why a literal “island nation” as big as Australia hasn’t turned its eyes offshore for its electricity generation.

EV Charging Rates For Commercial Electric Trucks, Buses, & Fast Chargers — Policies Forming

Charging an electric truck or bus at a fleet depot—or an electric car at an apartment, workplace, or a public fast-charging station—should be far cheaper than filling up on gasoline or diesel. Unfortunately, that’s often not the case at sites that receive electricity under utility rates designed for commercial buildings and industrial operations that don’t reflect the flexible nature of electric vehicle (EV) charging. To remedy this mismatch, Southern California Edison (SCE) and Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), two of the largest utilities in the nation, have developed an innovative suite of rates designed specifically for commercial EV charging, providing significant fuel cost savings to customers who charge EVs in a manner that supports the electric grid.

Volkswagen’s New Mobile EV Charging Solution

One of Volkswagen’s solutions to the growing need for EV charging is a mobile EV charging solution. The press release below explains it in more detail, but basically, it’s an EV charging station that can be moved from location to location fairly easily, can be connected to the grid or operate independently from it, and has up to 360 kWh charging capacity. The latter means an 80% charge (0–80%) in ~17 minutes.
