The Mobility Conference — Join Us For EV Revolution In Abu Dhabi

Just one year ago, electric vehicles were a rare sight on the roads of the UAE. Today, after a range of government initiatives and electric vehicle product launches from manufacturers, the electric vehicle industry in the UAE is looking to be one of the most promising in the region, and demand for EVs is expected to soar.

Vehicle manufacturers in the Middle East have set their strategy to include a heavy electric vehicle focus, making the transition to electric vehicles inevitable. In fact, by 2035, EVs are expected to make up 90% of all vehicles, including taxis, government, and private fleets. Furthermore, The Supreme Council of Energy has set a target of at least 10% of all newly-purchased cars to be electric or hybrid from 2016 to 2020.

What will it take to make the UAE a leading electric vehicle market?

On January 18th, senior figures in the mobility industry are meeting to discuss the future of low-emission vehicles in the UAE and GCC, focusing on the barriers, enablers, and subsequent opportunities for the market to accelerate and take off. Car sales are expected to explode, it’s only a question of when.

The Mobility Conference, in partnership with Global EVRT and CleanTechnica, will answer questions around how to build on the last 12 months of activity from government and industry, and scale from niche to mainstream.

Key sessions and interactive discussions will cover the industry’s most pertinent questions:

  • How much is infrastructure delaying the market and what’s needed to attract further finance?
  • Developments in the global mobility industry: what are the emerging economic and policy drivers to watch?
  • How does the emergence of connected, autonomous, and shared vehicle play into the growth of electric vehicles?
  • What are the innovative approaches that the private sector can take?
  • How do we establish the business case for electrifying the mobility industry?
  • How can you dispel common myths around EVs and make a compelling case to senior management and various stakeholders that the time to act is now?

Top speakers confirmed include:

  • Zachary Shahan — Director at CleanTechnica
  • Taher Diab — Director for Strategy & Planning at DSCE
  • Vilhelm Hedberg — Chief Executive Officer of eKar
  • Belén Gallego — Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder of ATA Insights
  • Sam Alawiye — Chief Executive Officer of Green Parking
  • Fares Almazrooei — Chief Executive Officer of Volt

During The Mobility Conference, delegates will also join the launch of the Electric Vehicle Road Trip Middle East, taking place at WFES. The 9-day electric vehicle road trip provides a practical opportunity to showcase outstanding electric vehicle technology, whilst raising awareness and educating the public on topics such as charging, financing, vehicle range and insurance.

We look forward to seeing you at the event!

I don't like paywalls. You don't like paywalls. Who likes paywalls? Here at CleanTechnica, we implemented a limited paywall for a while, but it always felt wrong — and it was always tough to decide what we should put behind there. In theory, your most exclusive and best content goes behind a paywall. But then fewer people read it! We just don't like paywalls, and so we've decided to ditch ours. Unfortunately, the media business is still a tough, cut-throat business with tiny margins. It's a never-ending Olympic challenge to stay above water or even perhaps — gasp — grow. So ...
