BYD B-Box HV Receives PV Magazine 2017 Top Innovation Award

BYD’s residential energy storage product, the B-Box HV was just awarded the 2017 Top Innovation Award by PV Magazine. The jury of experts cited the modular capability and charging/discharging performance as the key differentiators that led to the B-Box being selected.
The B-Box HV was chosen from amongst competing products because of a few key differentiators. First off, it is modular, allowing customers to size the storage system appropriately for the application ranging from residential installations all the way up to small and medium commercial installations. It comes in a handful of configurations with battery capacities ranging from 6.4 to 11.5 kWh, depending on the need. Multiple B-Boxes can be linked up for a total capacity of 57.5 kWh for a light commercial application.
The 97%+ efficiency of the B-Box was also noted by the jury, which is complemented by the B-Box’s ability to run to 100% depth of discharge. These two factors combined allow customers to use the battery without losing so much power in the process that it becomes a significant part of the financial equation. Being able to run the battery to 100% depth of discharge also allows customers to fully utilize the battery’s storage capacity, maximizing the value returned to the customer over the life of the asset.
The BYD B-Box HV was first introduced in February 2017 in Germany, with the first installation being announced at the Solar Power International show a few months later in September in Las Vegas, Nevada.
