The electric vehicle fast-charging network firm Fastned has signed an agreement with the Van der Valk Hotels & Restaurants chain, which operates out of the Netherlands and Belgium, to develop a chain of associated electric vehicle fast-charging stations, according to an email sent to CleanTechnica.
The companies involved have reportedly already selected a couple of dozen Van der Valk locations, spread throughout Belgium and the Netherlands, to serve as the sites of first development. Further details are now being worked out.
Here’s more from that: “This marks a next step by Fastned in the development of a European fast charging network. … Currently Fastned has 63 stations operational in The Netherlands. Fastned recently acquired additional locations in Germany and signed an agreement with Transport for London for the realisation of fast-charging stations in The Greater London Area. The partnership with Van der Valk allows Fastned to expand its network to Belgium.”
One of the co-founders of Fastned, Bart Lubbers, commented: “I’m very proud that Fastned is now expanding its network in all neighboring countries. This makes Fastned a European company and gives electric drivers ever more freedom to drive anywhere. In 2011, I invested in Fastned to realise a national charging network in the Netherlands. I’m excited to see that we are now building a European network together with an ever-increasing group of private investors.”
Fred van der Valk also commented: “Both Van der Valk and Fastned cater to people who are on the road and have a strong focus on customer service. This forms the basis of our partnership. With high quality charging stations at our hotels and restaurants we will provide an important additional service to our customers.”
Interesting news, we’ll keep you posted as regards any further partnerships Fastned fosters during the next couple of years.
