Keep Up To Date With European Wind With WindEurope’s Daily Wind Power Numbers
European wind energy trade body WindEurope has launched a new digital platform which provides daily wind energy statistics ranging from the share of wind energy per day through to hourly wind energy generation.
WindEurope launched the service earlier this week, in the hopes the platform will inform policy makers, stakeholders, and citizens, on the work that wind energy is doing. Specifically, the digital platform provides information on:
- The share of wind in yesterday’s power mix in Europe, broken down by Member State
- Yesterday’s hourly electricity mix (all fuels and technologies), again broken down by Member State
- Yesterday’s capacity factors for wind across Europe
The information represented in the new platform is sourced from 13,000 data points gathered from Transmission System Operators, power exchanges, Eurostat, and Wind Europe statistics.
As wind energy continues to grow throughout Europe, Daily Wind Power Numbers arrives as a great tool for fans and policymakers both to gauge just how pervasive and important wind energy is. There are five tabs users can play with to dig into wind energy numbers. The ‘Daily wind energy’ tab allows you to see ‘How much wind was in Europe’s electricity yesterday’ from a large-scale point of view, and by clicking on the map, you can also see how each country did.
The second tab allows you to see ‘Where did Europe generate wind power yesterday,’ and whether it was onshore or offshore wind. The third tab lets you dig into the hourly electricity mix, and the fourth tab the hourly wind energy generation figures, while the fifth tab provides information on total capacity factors.
