Opel Ampera-e (Chevy Bolt EV) Commercial Has Some Humor To It …

Advertisements for electric vehicles have, to date, been rather underwhelming on the whole. Or non-existent, in the case of conventional ads for Teslas. Would a good ad help to boost sales? Probably, but that would entail that many manufacturers actually want to move electric vehicles in serious numbers.

GM/Chevy may or may not be in that latter camp — it’s genuinely hard to tell at this point (hence all the debates about this). Will there be a serious push to sell the Chevy Bolt EV in serious numbers? Or not? Is the Bolt EV really just a compliance car? Is it just a means of the company getting its foot in the door and securing market share in anticipation of rapid growth over the coming years?

Whatever motives GM has with regard to the Bolt EV, it does appear to be making some effort to push the car. CEO Mary Barra even enthusiastically tweeted about the first Bolt deliveries.

On that note, a recent ad for the Opel Ampera-e is pretty interesting, and could possibly work well to gain the attention of people who otherwise don’t even know what an electric vehicle (EV) is. Give it a watch…

What do you think?

Not a perfect ad by any means, but not a bad (throwaway) one either.

As noted by “SharkVolt” in a discussion about the ad on the GM Volt forum (where we ran across it), the ad (well, a similar one for the actual Chevy Bolt EV) could perhaps work well as a Super Bowl ad. Maybe?

(Tip of the hat to JoeReal on the GM Volt forum for this video.)
