G-Ride — Chicago-Based Ride-Sharing Startup First To Use Only “Eco-Friendly” Vehicles

A new Chicago-based ride-sharing startup, dubbed G-Ride, will reportedly only be utilizing “eco-friendly” vehicles in its fleet, the first ride-sharing firm to do so, according to an email sent to CleanTechnica and EV Obsession.
In addition to this potential selling point, the startup also claims that it “plants a tree with every ride and every 100 rides saves an acre of rainforest! G-Ride’s mission is to shift the collective Eco-Consciousness one ride at a time. We want to make it easy and cost effective to go green and make an impact.”
Other points of potential interest include: a higher pay-rate for drivers, reportedly; the encouragement of tips through the association of tips and tree planting rates; equity options; and a driver-elected board member.
Another potential selling point is the firm’s partnership with Guard Lhama — a push-button service that alerts relevant authorities of your GPS location in the event of problems or harassment. The startup put the relevance of that this way: “There have been over 6,000 harassment cases against rideshare drivers and we plan to stop them before they start.” (Presumably, this is a reference to Uber and Lyft harassment complaints.)
Those interested may also be interested to learn that the firm is offering $20 off of the first ride in a Tesla that G-Ride users take.
Of final note is that G-Ride will not be using Surge Pricing, or any similar program, meaning that rates will be more or less steady regardless of demand levels.
