Tesla Model X reservation holders in Australia will be treated to a launch event later this month in Sydney, presumably setting the stage for local deliveries to begin, according to recent reports.
It bears remembering here that Australia is a right-hand-drive (RHD) country, so deliveries to the market can’t begin until RHD production is going strong. And, as far as I’m aware, there haven’t yet been any RHD spotted anywhere in the world, so who knows if actual deliveries will begin at the upcoming launch event in Sydney.
The original comment by “PaulW” on the Tesla Motors Club forum that brought this to my attention reveals that the event will be taking place from 5:30 pm (local time of course) to “late” at the Australian Technology Park in Eveleigh.
With regard to the possibility of a functional RHD Model X being on hand for the launch event, the commentator “championi” noted: “A ride would be nice, although I’m not holding my breath as I think no they will have a LHD on display which can’t be driven on our roads. It will still be nice to see the car in the flesh and take seat inside to get an idea of how it will be once we get delivery. I’m sure I’ll be pleased. Tesla family here we come!”
Whether there’s a RHD Model X on hand or not, the launch event sounds fun. How many of our readers will be attending?
