Meme: Elon Musk + Model X Air Filter + Volkswagen Dieselgate

Originally published on EV Obsession.

First of all, let’s say off the bat that the text on the meme below is not a direct quote of Elon Musk. In fact, I think Elon didn’t mention Volkswagen at all during the Tesla Model X unveiling (even though he insightfully responded to the scandal last week). That said, this would have been a cool thing to say:

Elon Musk Air Filter Meme

Thanks to Patrick W for sharing the meme, and BusinessPeopleInc.com for creating it. One more thing worth noting, however, is that Elon mentioned the air filter would make the air inside of Model Xs as clean as a hospital operating room — which is typically much cleaner than a random hospital room, as “Canuck” on the Tesla Motors Club forum rightfully adds.

If you somehow missed the Model X unveiling, the air filter in the X is insanely better than any other car’s air filter. Compared to standard cars, it is:

  • ~300 times better at filtering bacteria (2.0 microns)
  • ~500 times better at filtering allergens (1.0 microns)
  • ~700 times better at filtering soot/smog (.1 microns)
  • ~800 times better at filtering viruses (.01 microns)

It is the “first true HEPA filter,” as Elon says.

Good timing, and more importantly, great idea and product. This is a serious improvement to a motor vehicle.

I don't like paywalls. You don't like paywalls. Who likes paywalls? Here at CleanTechnica, we implemented a limited paywall for a while, but it always felt wrong — and it was always tough to decide what we should put behind there. In theory, your most exclusive and best content goes behind a paywall. But then fewer people read it! We just don't like paywalls, and so we've decided to ditch ours. Unfortunately, the media business is still a tough, cut-throat business with tiny margins. It's a never-ending Olympic challenge to stay above water or even perhaps — gasp — grow. So ...
