Bluesummer Electric Carsharing From Bolloré & PSA Peugeot Citroën

The Bolloré Group and PSA Peugeot Citroën are partnering to help each other on the path to becoming leading players in the carsharing market, according to recent reports.

The two companies signed a strategic cooperation agreement relating to electric vehicle (EV) production and distribution, and carsharing as well, as part of this new partnership.

The EV model alluded to in the agreement (to be distributed by PSA Peugeot Citroën) is the Bluesummer — a 4-seat cabriolet designed by Bolloré. The model features “an urban driving range of 200 kilometers (124 miles); a top speed of 110 kilometer/hour (68 miles-per-hour); and “a 30 kWh (kilowatt-hour) Bolloré BlueSolutions LMP battery pack.”

As per the agreement, these Bolloré-designed EVs will be produced at the PSA Peugeot Citroën plant in Rennes, Frnace, starting in September. Reportedly, maximum production output will be 15 vehicles a day (~3,500 vehicles a year at max output).

The partnership will also, of course, see the two companies work together on carsharing initiatives — including a joint venture intended to spread electric carsharing solutions worldwide.

On a related note, the BlueIndy electric carsharing program — a joint venture between Bolloré and the City of Indianapolis — recently launched (last month) in Indiana’s biggest city. The new EV carsharing program currently “only” features 12 stations but will eventually encompass more than 200 different stations spread across the city, based on current plans. (Those interested in more information on that program can find it here.)

Those looking for more information about the new partnership can find it in this recent press release.
