On a list of my favorite things are the clean, simple ChargePoint chargers that I frequent here and there to plug in our Nissan LEAF while going to the store, the library, and elsewhere. The nearing end of the year and the various related holidays bring more good news from ChargePoint. ChargePoint has partnered with various retailers to give customers (EV drivers with ChargePoint accounts) deep discounts. A press release, sent to EV Obsession and CleanTechnica via email, notes that this new program, ChargePoint Places, connects participating businesses to the largest community out there of electric vehicle (EV) drivers.

026 (2)The new program provides exclusive offers from destinations that offer EV charging stations and also helps EV-supportive businesses find new customers. ChargePoint Places inspires cooperative programs that advance the transition to EVs. It also brings EV drivers in contact with more people, which hastens the electric vehicle transition and generates a greater sense of community.

At a new destination where I recently charged, I enjoyed the EV community there and more. EV drivers and the businesses that supply chargers often share the common bond of caring for the environment. It is a wonderful connection. During this recent charge, I pulled up to a ChargePoint station in front of Centennial Park during an outdoor jazz performance. I met a fresh group of EV-inspired folks there and heard some great jazz.

“By joining ChargePoint Places, businesses are highlighting their leadership in corporate responsibility and sustainability, and they’re attracting new customers who not only share their commitment to the environment but who also are a loyal customer demographic,” said Dimitrios Papadogonas, Vice President of Marketing with ChargePoint. “EV drivers strongly prefer businesses that offer EV charging. With Places, businesses find new customers and ChargePoint’s member drivers discover new companies that make them feel welcome.”

Offering EV chargers is a wise beginning to customer relations. The press release reports that studies indicate that more than 85% of EV drivers have higher-than-average household incomes. Those customers will trust a business that offers a charger, and will probably provide it with plenty of cash. These businesses are making a smart move, and joining ChargePoint Places is the next step.

“Businesses that participate in ChargePoint Places already have EV charging on-site; to drive visibility for the existing customer amenity, they create exclusive offers for EV drivers that ChargePoint then promotes to its driver community.”

“As a full-service resort, The Meritage Resort and Spa attracts customers from around the world – but we’re also committed to serving local customers, and ChargePoint Places helps us do just that,” said Michael Palmer, General Manager for The Meritage Resort. “EV drivers prefer to stay where EV charging is easy and accessible. ChargePoint Places connects EV drivers to a world-class experience and connects us to a world-class customer.”

The press release continues that some of the active businesses in the ChargePoint Places launch include Hotel Strata in Mountain View, California, as well as The Meritage Resort and Spa and Odette Estate Winery in Napa, California. Some offers for EV drivers are free or discounted EV charging, free food, and free drinks. Some offer room-rate discounts and additional benefits.

“Taking our partnership with ChargePoint to the next level by becoming a Places-branded business was an easy decision because it’s good for our customers, and it’s good for business,” said Amanda Pier, Odette Estate Tasting Room Manager “We know EV drivers are great customers; joining Places will only help increase our exposure to this growing and loyal customer base.”

ChargePoint continues to promote responsible comfortable EV experiences and says it will announce more special offers from businesses in the coming months.

Recently, ChargePoint gained attention in Paris during COP21 with an award from the UN.

Don’t let the worry of chargers keep you away from enjoying the experience of an EV. Along with ChargePoint’s perfect service, excellent-quality stations, and good intention, EV chargers are getting more plentiful and fast.
