The City of New York (NYC) has put the Tesla Model 3 on the list of approved yellow cabs. The Model 3 is the first-ever all-electric car to make it on the list. Previously, some hybrid cars were on the list, such as the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, Toyota Prius, Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid, and Ford Fusion Hybrid (see full list below).
The Green Cab taxi company in Madison, Wisconsin, announced today that it is converting its fleet of taxis to electric vehicles. When complete, the move will make Green Cab the first in the nation to operate a fleet of fully electric taxis.
Clearly, I’m a bit of a fan of Tesla shuttle and taxi services (I cofounded Tesla Shuttle), so I’m always happy to learn about new services like these. One such service is called eCarra. It offers chauffeured rides in certain regions of Texas right now, but I’m sure has an eye on expanding into other areas of the state and beyond.
The Yellow Cab taxi fleet in the city of Columbus, Ohio, is getting a boost this week with the news that it is adding 10 Tesla Model 3s to its fleet.
Most people haven’t internalized the thought of their Teslas turning into money spinners instead of costs yet. When that starts sinking in, the data may change. But by that point, other cars probably will have full self-driving capabilities as well.
Elon Musk and Tesla have been making big promises about Full Self Driving for years, but recent announcements show us that they are confident enough to bet big on it within 3 years. They wouldn’t be this confident if they didn’t have it largely finished, and will probably be showing us something exciting on the 22nd.
82% of Tesla customers did not test drive a Model 3 before purchasing it. 82% of them! Why? First, the reputation and quality of Tesla precedes itself. Secondly, as I have written a few times before, Tesla is not just a company; it’s a movement. Some people are scoffing, “Who will buy a car without a test drive?” The answer: people who understand civilization could easily collapse if climate change is not addressed in a timely fashion, and people who want the best vehicle ever made by many accounts.
I have watched every single Elon Musk interview I can find. People often ask the same questions of him (which is unfortunate since there is so much more we would all like to know). One of those questions is, “how does one start a successful company?” Elon will essentially respond with two main simple pieces of advice. First, work 100 hours a week, and secondly, ask for as much constructive criticism as possible. It is within this spirit that this article is written.
Tesla Shuttle, a city-to-city Tesla shuttle service (who would have guessed it from the name?), has expanded into the United States.
It’s 11:30 on a Thursday morning, and David Lucht is recharging – both himself, with a cold brew at Press Coffee Roasters, and his 2014 Tesla Model S, which is currently hooked up to one of the 16 charging stations in the parking lot at Scottsdale Quarter. “They’ve got the Superchargers here,” Lucht says, excitedly.
