The DOE announced a clean energy package aimed at jumpstarting offshore wind power development Thursday morning in advance of Pres. Obama’s speech to a joint session of Congress Thursday evening in which he is expected to announce a $300 billion-$400 billion jobs stimulus program.
Countries building TLC – transparency, longevity and certainty – into strong climate change policy frameworks are gaining a competitive advantage over countries that aren’t, according to a new study from DB Climate Change Advisors. China and Germany have emerged as global leaders, while the US continues to lag, and may even lose ground, at least at the federal level.
Carbon may speed up the growth of trees (in the short-term) but certainly not our economy. For many decades, businesses were only functioning in one direction. This will have to change in the coming years, since such a one-way business focus, known as the river economy, is only focused on production of goods and leaving them in the hands of consumers, who throw them away after their product-life has ended. This will become less profitable in the coming years as the cost of natural resources will increase, resulting in higher development costs.
