An impressive coalition made up of 26 Caribbean nations, more than 40 private sector giants, 8-time Olympic gold medal winner Usain Bolt, and global music superstar Sean Paul are combining to launch the $1 billion Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator intended to make the region the world’s first climate-smart zone.
Caribbean leaders attending the One Planet Summit in Paris on Tuesday launched the Caribbean Climate-Smart Coalition, a new public-private coalition intended to “break through the systemic obstacles that stop finance flowing to climate-smart investments.”
Jamaica is looking to mobilize a substantial investment into its renewable energy sector as it recognizes the global movement towards a low-carbon economy.
