If you are an observer of the Chinese EV market, you might have noticed a number of large automakers making big commitments to EV production in China, and new models being quickly released into the Chinese market. Let’s look at the Chinese EV mandate to understand why and then use a case study of the SOL e20x to understand how this is being done?
JAC is going to start selling the JAC iEV7S in Brazil. The JAC iEV7S has now been rebranded as the iEV40 and it is going to be imported from China into Brazil for consumer sales.
JAC Volkswagen Automotive Co., which is the joint venture between JAC (Jianghuai Automobile Co.) and Volkswagen, is planning on investing 5.06 billion yuan ($750.8 million) into a new electric car factory in Hefei, Anhui, China, according to authorities in Hefei.
China is the hottest kid on the block when it comes to cleantech. As such, we try to keep an exceptionally close eye on what’s going on there and share regular reports of the most significant news of the past month or quarter.
On the 24th of April at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, Volkswagen Group held a massive press conference showing off cars like the Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo, Lamborghini Urus, and other high flyers, but the most interesting to the Chinese market was the SOL E20X.
Pictures of Volkswagen’s first Chinese electric vehicle built via its joint venture with JAC recently surfaced from patent filings. The vehicle looks very similar to the iEV7S, with some minor cosmetic changes.
On 27th October, JAC released the newest entry in its pure-electric lineup, the iEV7S, an SUV equipped with the latest technology from JAC. I was able to experience the iEV7S by getting an iEV7S taxi in Hefei. Although, the iEV7S is also available at JAC dealerships.
