Nissan is like a fast runner with a gold medal in hand but Usain Bolt on its tail. It has been able to say for a long time that it offers the world’s top-selling electric car (in history), but 400,000 or so reservations for the Tesla Model 3 put that title into threat. That said, recent comments from Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn are poignant, positive, and bring to light a point that I think we should all be considering more frequently.
The CEO of Nissan, Carlos Ghosn (62), will be stepping down after 16 years in that role, according to recent reports. The move will reportedly allow Ghosn to focus on the deployment of “his cost-cutting expertise” across the alliance — at Renault SA and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, in addition to Nissan.
“We started at the beginning. We were seeing something that other people did not see. Now they are seeing it.” Carlos Ghosn explains that the Renault-Nissan Alliance has been a leader and continues as a catalyst in advancing autonomous vehicle technology, and it aims to continue that leadership.
