We’re more than 50% through the first day of our first EV charging conference —West Meets East: Charging Central & Eastern Europe’s Electromobility Revolution — which is part of our Cleantech Revolution Tour. Hundreds of useful comments have already been thrown around, but I’m going to try to consolidate some of the top points.
The German firm Innogy is now planning to spend up to €1.2 billion on e-mobility, photovoltaics and glass fibre networks by the year 2019, according to a recent public statement on the matter.
The UK’s latest competitive auction saw offshore wind prices tumble to record lows of as little as £57.50 per MWh, a 47% decrease on past offshore wind prices, and dipping well below the price guaranteed to the Hinkley Point nuclear power plant.
A total of eleven new electricity projects totaling more than 3 gigawatts were awarded contracts by the UK Government today in the country’s latest competitive auction for Contracts for Difference, including three offshore wind farms which included an impressive low strike price of only £57.50 per megawatt-hour.

I still find it hard to believe that I am a “early adopter.” Soon, I hope I will not be thinking “Why are there not more EV drivers?” Well, I do thank my lucky stars on this one. Primarily, I thank CleanTechnica.com and EVObsession.com for pointing me to “right drivelihood.” But it’s not just the cars and social support that make the EV movement. There’s an entire “EV ecosystem” in place, and growing.
