Illinois tops the US Green Building Council’s annual rank of the top LEED-certified U.S. states, thanks to a controversial twist supplanting Washington D.C.
On October 1, Dallas, Texas implemented the first mandatory minimum green building regulations outside of California in an aggressive effort to cut citywide power and water consumption en route to its goal of carbon neutrality by 2030.
Green building is growing fast in the US, and may represent more than half of all commercial and institutional construction as soon as 2016.
