1st Order of Corning Solar Photovoltaic Glass on Commercial Scale

Corning photovoltaic glass? I have to admit, I had to dig through our archives to see if we had ever covered this. And, nope, it’s a new one. Corning Incorporated, a ” world leader in specialty glass and ceramics,” has created photovoltaic glass that it claims is lighter and more efficient than thin-film solar modules. On February 1, it announced the first commercial order of its photovoltaic (PV) glass substrates.

German-Saudi Partnership to Build Polysilicon Plant in Red Sea City

Germany’s Centrotherm Photovoltaics has signed an agreement with IDEA Polysilicon to construct the Middle East’s first polysilicon solar PV manufacturing facility in the Saudi Arabian Red Sea coast city of Yanbu. The agreement aims to provide IDEA the technology and know-how it needs to become a market force in the Middle East-North Africa (MENA) region, a market that’s attracting more and more interest from industry players globally.
