Leapmotor has launched reservations and pre-orders for the cool, new A05 EV compact car. You can lock yours in with a deposit of just 99 yuan ($15). We don’t know actual pricing yet, but note that the subcompact A10 launched in March with pricing of 65,800 yuan ($9,725) to 86,800 yuan ($12,830).
Measurements of the A05 are as follows:
- 4,200 mm in length
- 1,800 mm in width
- 1,560 mm in height
- 2,605 mm wheelbase
Battery pack options include 39.8 kWh and 53 kWh — both are lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. These provide 405 and 510 km of range (252–317 miles). Motor sizes range from 70 kW to 90 kW. Fast charging can provide a recharge from 30% to 80% in 16 minutes.
“The A05 is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8295 chip and features an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch central infotainment screen. LiDAR is available as an option, enabling parking-space-to-parking-space navigation-assisted driving,” CnEVPost shares. “Leapmotor said the A05 is the only premium hatchback in its class to offer LiDAR and parking-space-to-parking-space assisted driving.”
As you can see in the images, the target buyer for the A05 is young urban professionals without kids. (The A10 is aimed more at families.)
