I recently got the chance to test out POPOSOAP’s waterfall kit. Available at www.poposoapsolar.com*, the company has fast and friendly support by email. You just email them with what you are trying to do, whether you have access to AC power or want a solar-powered pump, and they quickly give you the info you need to order what you want. When I started this a couple months ago, they didn’t have powerful solar-powered pumps, so I had to get a 120V powered pump to support my pond. Luckily, the company has expanded its lineup considerably and offers many more choices now.

Diving Into The World Of Backyard Waterfalls

Ah, the allure of a backyard pond — that serene slice of nature right outside your door, where the gentle trickle of water can melt away the day’s stress. I’ve always been a sucker for water features. I find the sound of cascading water very soothing. Fast-forward to today, and I’m thrilled to dive into testing the POPOSOAP AC 40W 660GPH 8″x4.3″ Metal Waterfall Kit. Priced at a wallet-friendly $119.99, this compact powerhouse promises to elevate any pond without breaking the bank or requiring a PhD in plumbing. But does it deliver that magical blend of functionality, durability, and eco-friendliness?

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of unboxing and installation, let’s splash around in some background on why pond waterfalls are a game-changer for backyard havens, the rising tide of sustainable garden tech, and what makes POPOSOAP a noteworthy player in this space. First off, let’s talk about why every backyard pond screams for a waterfall — it’s not just about the pretty visuals; it’s a biological necessity that supercharges your mini aquatic world. Still ponds can quickly turn into stagnant soups, breeding algae and depriving fish of oxygen. A waterfall?

  • It acts like nature’s blender, constantly aerating the water by mixing in air as it tumbles down, which boosts oxygen levels and helps beneficial bacteria thrive. This breakdown of organic waste keeps the water crystal clear and healthier for inhabitants.
  • Fish become more vibrant and active, displaying brighter colors and even living longer, while the moving water skims away debris before it sinks and rots. Algae issues? Kiss them goodbye — the ripples prevent that slimy green film from forming on the surface.
  • Beyond water quality, waterfalls double as natural filters; rocks or spillways trap particles, mimicking wild streams and reducing your maintenance chores.
  • And let’s not overlook the ecosystem perks: they attract wildlife like birds, frogs, and butterflies, turning your yard into a biodiversity hotspot.
  • In hotter climates, the evaporating water even provides a natural cooling effect, like an outdoor AC unit that lowers ambient temperatures around the pond.
  • Health-wise, spending time near these features can reduce stress, improve air quality by humidifying the environment, and foster a sense of well-being — think of it as therapy with a watery soundtrack.

Aesthetically, a waterfall adds that dynamic sparkle, with sunlight dancing on the ripples, making your pond the envy of the block.

In short, skipping a waterfall is like having a bike without pedals — functional, sure, but missing the real joyride. This isn’t just backyard fluff; it’s part of a bigger trend toward sustainable, low-maintenance outdoor living. With climate concerns on the rise, homeowners are ditching resource-hogging lawns for eco-friendly features like ponds and waterfalls that manage stormwater runoff, support local flora, and enhance environmental resilience. The market for garden water features has surged, driven by a push for energy-efficient, solar-powered options that cut down on electricity bills and carbon footprints. Brands are innovating with durable materials and user-friendly kits, making it easier for DIY enthusiasts to create pro-level setups without hiring landscapers. Smaller ponds, in particular, are gaining traction for their space efficiency and minimal upkeep — perfect for urban yards where every square foot counts.

And in an era where “green” is king, features like these not only beautify, but also contribute to broader ecological goals, like boosting pollinators and reducing urban heat islands. Enter POPOSOAP, a company that’s riding this wave with a focus on blending technology, design, and nature for sustainable pond solutions. Founded with a passion for eco-innovation, POPOSOAP specializes in solar fountains, pond pumps, bird baths, and waterfall kits that harness renewable energy where possible. Their products emphasize durability, like solar panels with low-iron tempered glass and aluminum frames built to withstand the elements. The company prides itself on quality service, offering free shipping on orders over $100, a 30-day return policy, and a one-year warranty, backed by a responsive team.

Stay tuned as we unpack the pros, cons, and real-world performance in the full review.

Features: What’s In The Box?

The POPOSOAP kit arrives ready to go, sparing you the hassle of cobbling together a system from disparate parts. Inside, you’ll find:

The Unboxing Of The Pump & Waterfall Kit

The instructions were clear and I found this easier to assemble than the fountain since there were fewer choices to make. (I tested the waterfall box without a solar panel.)
Here I had already glued the waterfall board to the waterfall box. I used gloves so that I didn’t get the glue (included) on my hands.
It was easy to attach the pond tube to the waterfall box.
I don’t have a pond that has a border that would work for this, so I tested it with a ladder and a storage box of water.

I ran the waterfall for about 8 hours and it performed well, with no change in the performance. I also ran it without water for an hour and it didn’t seem to harm it. (Although, it isn’t recommended to run pumps without water.)

Conclusion

POPOSOAP has done a great job putting together kits that allow a beginner to easily enhance their ponds.

  • They offer quiet and reliable pumps powered by AC or solar for small, medium, and large ponds.
  • They offer many styles of fountains and waterfalls.
  • They offer both filtration and UV lights to clean the pond without chemicals.
  • They offer white or LED lights that turn on at night to enhance the look of your pond or waterfall.
  • They offer solar panels and batteries to power the pumps.

I’ve learned a lot testing out the waterfall and found they offer a great selection of products at very competitive prices. If you would like to order products, you can order from www.poposoapsolar.com or get them on Amazon.
