The last few days have shown that EV charging is becoming the new normal, with progress being made on a daily basis, all throughout the world. As one example, Vietnam will be getting an extensive EV charging network courtesy of Porsche and Charge+. On the other side of the world, I appreciate Massachusetts taking the time to provide more EV charging initiatives and offer a new EV charging program for businesses in partnership with Ford. Alongside that state in the Northeast, New York is going beyond EVs and has announced some positive reforms to its transportation system, including money for the construction of new sidewalks, shared-use paths, bus shelters, and other enhancements that encourage the use of environmentally friendly transportation. Massachusetts Businesses Get Boost with Ford Pro EV Charging Program

  • Ford Pro™ Smart Charging Bundle is now available for businesses in Massachusetts to lower upfront and ongoing EV charging operational costs. 1
  • The new program offers free commercial-grade Ford Pro™ chargers for home or worksite charging to software subscribers enrolled in the Massachusetts Clean Peak Energy Standard.

“Clean energy technologies like energy storage and demand response resources, when used during peak electricity demand, lower the likelihood that we need to call on expensive fossil fuels,” said Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources Commissioner, Elizabeth Mahony. “Through its Clean Peak Energy Standard, DOER believes these technologies can reduce costs for ratepayers, lower Massachusetts’ emissions, and create a more resilient electric grid. Ford Pro’s Smart Charging Bundle is now among the tools to help Massachusetts shift to a clean energy portfolio and achieve net zero emissions in 2050.”

Governor Hochul Announces $97.7 Million to Support Enhancement of Alternative Transportation Options in Local Communities

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that $97.7 million in funding has been awarded to more than 30 communities across New York State for projects that promote alternative, environmentally friendly modes of travel, such as walking, biking or riding mass transit. The funding will support initiatives that improve access to the transportation system for all users and advance New York State’s nation-leading agenda to fight climate change by constructing new sidewalks, shared use paths and other enhancements that facilitate the use of non-motorized modes of travel and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The awards were made available through the Federal Highway Administration’s Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) and are being administered by the New York State Department of Transportation.
