Polestar Partners With Easee As Preferred EV Charger Supplier In Norway
Polestar continues to ramp up operations across the board in preparation for the first vehicle deliveries later this year. Here in Southern California, the estimated delivery time for a Polestar 2 is November 2020, with lead times in early adopter EV markets around the world, including Norway where the first customer Polestar 2s are already en route. To keep customer vehicles charged up, Polestar entered into a charging agreement with Circle K Norway and Norwegian EVSE provider Easee.
“It is important for us in Polestar, and electrification of the automotive industry in general, that the infrastructure for charging is simple and accessible to everyone, and we are very excited about this cooperation,” says Alexander Hørthe, head of Norway for Polestar.
The agreement will give all Polestar customers the option of purchasing a locally built Easee EVSE at a significant discount for their home. The chargers themselves are assembled and operated by Circle K along with its network of installers supporting Norwegian customers.
We know how beautiful and exciting the Polestar 2 is, but Easee is new to CleanTechnica, so let’s dive a bit deeper into its EVSE. On the surface, the Easee’s geometric shell hosts little more than a charging outlet up front and comes in a range of colors. That’s a nice touch and lets homeowners personalize what quickly becomes a fixture in the garage and a part of the daily routine of plugging the car in. It’s a small touch, but can really make an EVSE fit into a home much better.
The design improvements of the Easee aren’t simply aesthetic, as the team spent a lot of time to design a charger that is compact and makes efficient use of resources. In fact, the Easee only weighs 1.5 kilograms / 3.3 pounds. That’s a true featherweight in the world of EVSEs. The footprint is also diminutive, coming to the market with a footprint that’s 69% smaller than comparable 22kW EVSEs on the market. That won’t save you any cash, but it will take up less room in the garage, where real estate can often command a premium.
