Arcimoto has officially added its fully electric Deliverator delivery vehicles to the Hyrecar fleet in Los Angeles, California to enable gig drivers to take advantage of a purpose-built electric delivery vehicle. The vehicles are well suited to empower delivery drivers to maximize earnings with a vehicle that’s right-sized for delivery with a lower cost to operate than a comparable gasoline-powered vehicle.

“We are thrilled to work together with HyreCar to bring the Deliverator to gig drivers for sustainable home delivery,” said Mark Frohnmayer, President and Founder of Arcimoto. “The HyreCar platform creates a win-win for vehicle owners and working drivers to monetize vehicles that would otherwise sit parked 90 percent of the day. We see this as an incredible opportunity for gig drivers looking to save on operating costs, for small businesses who wish to rent out their vehicles when not in use, and for entrepreneurs looking to build all-electric delivery fleets of their own.”

Fueled by ineffective federal regulations in the US, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced millions to shelter in place at home for months on end, leaning into grocery and food delivery for the first time. In our home, we tested the waters early on and landed on regular deliveries from Costco as a great solution to keeping our family safe and fed through the crisis. While it’s easy for customers to simply order online, spooling up delivery drivers and fleets is a much more involved process.

Hyrecar attempts to take the edge off of the capital expenditure required to get into a delivery vehicle for gig drivers, opening up new job opportunities at a time when tens of millions are simultaneously tight on cash and in need of work. The fact that the Arcimoto Deliverator, built on its Fun Utility Vehicle (FUV) platform, was purpose-built for delivery and sports a low cost electric powertrain makes the deal that much more lucrative.

“We’re happy to work with Arcimoto to begin providing access to Deliverator on our platform,” Joe Furnari, HyreCar Chief Executive Officer said. “This will give the growing number of delivery gig drivers access to the lowest per-mile-cost-to-operate delivery vehicle on the road, and it will enable fleet operators tied to the retail industry and small business owners the ability to leverage the Deliverator to profit from Mobility as a Service while reducing their carbon footprint.”

The Arcimoto Deliverator boasts a top speed of 75 mph, with 102 miles of range in the city, while offering an impressive 20+ cubic feet of cargo space for deliveries. Its slender form factor makes it well suited to navigating through city traffic and making the most of the cluttered city parking.
