Who says Tesla has no demand? Certainly not the half a million reddit users who subscribe to the Tesla Motors subreddit. Tesla Motors is the top subreddit for a single vehicle brand, and it actually ranks right behind the Cars subreddit. The subreddit is also 38% larger than the subreddit Autos, which has just over 360,000 subscribers.
The Tesla community is a mix of Tesla owners, shareholders, and fans from all around the world who support what Elon Musk is doing and believe in Tesla’s mission to help us transition to sustainable energy.
The moderators of the Tesla Motors subreddit agree that the Tesla community is amazing. “The community and mod team has had our ups and downs, but I think that ultimately by focusing on you the amazing community, you are what gets us through every day.”
They also remind everyone reading their statement on Reddit that, “we are in this together, every single person reading this. We’re all on the same earth, we are all human. Something to remember as we get even larger.”
I think that the core reason why Tesla has such an awesome community is that Tesla is focused on bettering our world. People want to invest in a company that cares about them and their needs. People want to become a part of something larger than themselves because it makes us feel as if we belong. That is what community is all about.
Tesla’s main goal is helping everyone become reliant on sustainable energy. A keyword here is energy. Tesla provides Powerpacks and solar roof tiles to help power your home or business while also creating fully electric cars that have breathed fresh air into the auto industry.
@Tesla @elonmusk The original Tesla community on Reddit (r/TeslaMotors) has reached 500,000 subscribers! We are the largest sub based on a single vehicle brand! https://t.co/Y0BT3ENONa. Just look at that exponential growth! pic.twitter.com/QOzza69rYZ

One of the users, Matroosoft, also mentioned that the Tesla subreddit group has about 214 comments per day, and that the overall rank is #517. Matroosoft also points out that 80% of the subscriber growth happened in the last two years and that if this trend continues, then Tesla’s subreddit could hit 1,000,000 subscribers by the end of next year.
The moderator team also said this, which I think applies to all aspects of life:
“Tesla is not without mistakes, we should all know and acknowledge this. But like any kid growing up dealing with real life, there are going to be trips and falls, but with them, it makes you stronger. It follows one of my favorite quotes by Nelson Mandela — ‘I never lose. I either win or learn’. Tesla’s vision is to push the world forward to sustainable energy. I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to every person who helped Tesla move forward, every current and past employee. Without the drive and the shared vision, this community and Tesla wouldn’t be where we are today.”
In honor of the 500,000 subscriber mark, the subreddit moderators are also hosting a banner competition. They want to go for a fresh and clean look and for submission to focus on Tesla’s products and the environment. If you would like to create something and submit it, here is more info.
The winner will get a “King of the Castle” Community Award along with one month of Premium (700 Coins a month). And the winning banner will be set as the new banner for “a good while.”
