In this week’s #Electrifying chat*, we are talking with Sono Motors co-founder & CEO Laurin Hahn. To join this free conference call (which starts at 6:00 pm CET / noon NYC time / 9:00 am California time), register on Zoom here and then join via the provided link once the call starts.
In case you are not familiar with Sono Motors, the short story is that this German startup is offering a truly solar-powered car with deep green credentials.
The target price of the Sono Sion is €16,000 ($19,760) + €4,000 ($5,000) for the battery, or you can lease the battery separately. You can reserve an early production car now, and production is expected to begin in 2019. At the moment, Sono Motors has collected 3,803 of a targeted 5,000 reservations for the Sion.
In order to attract more customers, have fun, and simply spread the news about what they are doing, Sono Motors will soon embark on a tour across 10 countries and 42 cities, hoping to conduct a whopping 12,000 test drives in that time.
We announced this conference call last weekend and solicited some questions. I’ll highlight a handful of them here as a primer for the call:
- What is the battery capacity retention warranty?
- Can the battery pack size of 35 kWh be verified?
- What is highway range at 60 mph (100 km/h)?
- What safety features are installed? (number and type of airbags ‘n stuff)
- What driver assistance systems are included? (emergency braking?)
- Is there cruise control? Or at least a tech option for retrofitting via CAN-bus?
- … and more back seat pics are requested. 🙂
Send more questions in the comments below, on Zoom, or on Facebook if you have them.
