It was a great honor to meet Plug In America co-founders Paul Scott & Dency Nelson in Santa Monica in the midst of the Tesla Model 3’s birthday and first reservation day. In fact, walking up to join the line at around 6:30am, my eyes quickly landed on Paul and I was surprised and stoked to see him there, and then Zan Dubin Scott as well! A great way to start the Model 3 adventure.
After interviewing the people at the front of the line, Kyle and I headed over to interview Paul, Dency, and the Volt owner standing between them in line who drove down from Alaska to reserve a car in Santa Monica.
As you can see in the video below, we talked through a range of different topics — how serious non-Tesla automakers are about the EV transition, super-fast EV charging (which is only Tesla Supercharging at the moment), Who Killed the Electric Car? (which Paul starred in), driving on sunshine/sunlight (which Paul coined long before I started using the phrase), Tesla and the Model 3 (of course), GM’s initial obstructionism with EVs at the time of the EV1/Impact, the Chevy Volt battery & Tesla Model S battery vs the LEAF battery, the benefits of electric cars, whether or not conventional automakers will get crushed by Tesla, and more. Check out the video for the hot & juicy statements, including a great potential headline at 21:53 in (NSFW):
